@Phil Z. Typically Construction insurance aka Builders Risk I am assuming you are referring to is adequate in some instances. But typically I will consider the risk at hand and look at Vacant policies that will allow for proper coverage and in some cases depending on the circumstances you can write a Fire Dwelling policy on the property . We can discuss in greater detail.

Hey I'm Anton from Glastonbury,CT and I am an investor whom is looking to soak up additional knowledge from all the information and experience on this site . My goals over the next 12 to 24 months is to purchase 12 REO properties to flip and add some 6 unit plus units to the portfolio once I become more liquid. I have worked with developers and investors since 2005 as their insurance broker and have watched numerous deals come across my desk and insured numerous projects but never jumped into the mix. I decided that this is the year to finally move forward.
