For Austin talk to @Victor Steffen he's an investor and understands the numbers.

I also have been looking in San Antonio. If you are looking for something in San Antonio talk to, I have an agent that should be able to help you there!

Thanks Antonio. Yes looking in San Antonio right now. Is it a good time to invest in San Antonio? I checked few multi families here and cashflow wise it looks good. Just not sure about appreciation.

San Antonio is decent it seems,  for both.

I live in Austin and tons of Californians moving here (I just moved here from NYC). The market is piping hot, but that is not necessarily good if you are buying a rental!

Yeah, I can imagine buying a primary residence in Austin and investing elsewhere in Texas.    I've been in big cities most of my adult life (ex-NYC too...SF, etc), and now I'm all about living in the suburbs or generally less densely populated areas.

How are you liking Austin?   What part of the city are you in?

North East Austin, its fun its not like NYC pre pandemic fun but less covid rules, cheaper taxes and cheaper than NYC for sure. That's what I am doing right now

@Johnny Potts This is arguably the most important thing you can do!

@Joseph Pedraza Its challenging for sure. The first thing I would do is make sure you have a goal and you stick to a strategy.  When you bounce back and forth between multiple strategies, you overwhelm yourself. This is where I would start!

@Sam Pierson I would always recommend you use an accountant. It will always help.

@Basit Siddiqi used to run a meetup in NYC and he does taxes! Maybe he can help!

@Randy Mbouge Building wealth is huge. I think house hacking a small multifamily is honestly the best way to start. If you can't do that cause the prices are too high, you can try a single family house hack where you rent out the bedrooms.

You might want to look into government down payment assistance programs if you need more for the closing cash and potentially using sellers concessions!

@Andy Pham That feeling when you first get the keys and/or rent check for that first property!!! Love it. Use this to push yourself to start getting creative! This is exactly how I felt when I bought my first one!

@Justin Pav I invest in Ewing and Hamilton, so not too far from you!

In terms of getting started, I would recommend you pick a strategy and stick to it. That's the first thing I would recommend.

In terms of meeting people, here is a great way, but reach out offering value to people!
