Post: Investing in the United Kingdom

Hi guys,

It's been years since I've even looked at this site. I allowed life to pull me away and distract me...but it's interesting how life always leads me back here.

Anyway, I have an interest in relocating to the UK (no immediate plans, but ultimately want to relocate between the end of summer 2021 and New Years 2022) and was wondering if anyone has any suggested reading material pertaining to investing in the UK. Or if anyone has any first hand experience in investing in the UK. I'm interested in buying and holding small multi-family properties. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Warmest Regards,

Antione Dillas Jr.

Hi guys!

Ok so I recently posted a few comments on a potential idea I had, and after a lot of helpful information, I decided to just go ahead and focus on purchasing my first multifamily property. But I have 2 questions that I desperately want some information on.

1) What would be the most recommended way to purchase property? Regarding finance options like FHA or conventional loans.

2) Where in Atlanta would be good locations to purchase multifamily property? I've searched several websites, but I haven't really seen many.

Any feedback would be great, thanks again guys!

Hi Daniel!

Been there, I may still be a newbie but believe me when I say real estate in Bermuda will drive you crazy. Its a bizarre place.

Hi Linda!

Thanks for the input! Buy and hold is actually what I really want to get into. But I don't currently live in America (although I do have plans to move to Atlanta) and being completely new, I was looking at wholesale not because I think its quick and easy, but because I thought it may be simple enough for me to handle. But now I have second thoughts about that.

That said...how would I go about buying and holding from another country? Any advice?

That's my million dollar question. I see a lot of things are for "more experienced investors", which is fine. But what can I do NOW?

Hi guys! Thanks so much for the feedback!

So, from what I've been told, the rout I'm thinking of could be a bit risky for a newbie like me. Which is cool, I guess I can work my way up to it in time. In the meantime, what would be a great way for an absolute beginner to start?

As I've said, my interests lay in holding multifamily units and wholesale. I've read the ultimate beginners guide, the guide to analysing property, as well as the guide to wholesale and a bunch of articles that BP sends me. I feel like I'm ready to jump in and I really want to avoid the dreaded "Analysis Paralysis" so... ANY suggested starting points would be great.

Thanks again for the support guys!

@Michelle B.

Well Michelle, the reason I'd like to start out in wholesale is to gain confidence and experience in REI, and of course to raise capital as well.

Ultimately, I'd like to buy and hold multifamily units, but I honestly don't think I'm ready for that. Not due to lack of experience (although it is a factor), but because at the moment I don't live in America, and I think it may be a bit complicated for a complete newbie to manage that from another country. (I live in Bermuda, by the way. It's about a 3 hour flight from Atlanta.)

As for my starting plan, it appears I need to readjust it a bit. Ok, so... from what I've been told, buying it with hard money won't work, and if it's on the MLS then it's difficult to wholesale anyway (which, now that I think about it, makes sense...) so with that.... I think I'm stuck. I think I should read more and come up with something else.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you so much, that was really helpful. I decided to reach out after reading an article on analysis paralysis, so it's interesting that you mentioned that.

Ok so, I guess hard money isn't the way to go... what finance method would you recommend for beginners? Or anyone who has an interest in foreclosures / pre-foreclosures?

Also, I've read that there's a BP MarketPlace that I've never used before, would that be a good start on finding different sellers?

Again, thanks a lot!

Hi Michelle!

First of all, thanks for taking the time to help me out. I honestly didn't expect a reply so quickly.

To answer your question, I guess my first option would be properties on the MLS. Properties that are FACING foreclosure would be option B.

Hope that helps! Thanks again!
