Thanks for the tips @Brett Goldsmith. I'm looking into my options. Ideally, I'd like to stay close to home with my investments in order to keep a better eye on things to start off. However, the idea of landing out of state property for a much more reasonable price is also intriguing. For now, I'm just studying up so I can eliminate or at least minimize the amount of mistakes I can make on my first purchase. Cheers!

Thanks @Alia Lysiuk. I'm definitely looking into out of state investing. Can I ask how you went about deciding on your location to invest in, as well as how you put together your team and found the properties out of state? How long did the whole process take you? So. Many. Questions. Let me know if I can pick your brain sometime. Thanks.

Thanks @Ryan Burges! My fiancée's family is from Irvine, so I spend a considerable amount of time down there. Are you currently looking into investing in SoCal or out of state? I'm just trying to gauge what other Californians are doing, given the high-priced Real Estate down here. Thanks.

Hey @Ariou B. Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and link up with him and see what happens. What kind of project did the 2 of you work on?

Thanks @Tim Ryan I may take you up on that offer. I would love to pick your brain sometime. An endorsement from someone within the same thread seems like a good sign. Let's connect and see if we can get together in a couple weeks. I'm in West Hollywood, so I'm not too far. Cheers!

Thanks @Jeff Wallenius. Right now, I'm doing just that. Trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible in order to make the best investments I can. How's the Portland market these days? My fianceé lived in Portland for 8 years and misses it so much. She is kicking herself that she never bought property there when it was cheap. Maybe one day.

Hello New Online Community!

My name is Anthony and I'm a short-time listener and first-time caller. I'm originally from New York, but have resided in Los Angeles for the past 12 years. I currently work in the Entertainment industry where I have worked my way up from a hustling Production Assistant to a hustling Producer. I'm just now realizing the value of investing, particularly Real Estate. I'm looking to work my way up to being successful in Real Estate investment, just like I've done in my current industry. I currently own a condo, which I live in with my wife-to-be and our charming dog. Outside of this condo purchase I made way back in 2010, I know nothing. I found out about this gem of a site from listening to the Mad FIentist podcast. I just finished reading the Beginner's Guide on this site, so needless to say, I'm raring to go! For now, I'm perusing the site and trying to soak up as much information as I can. I still haven't figured out my niche, so any advice would be appreciated. I would love for this to become a means of earning extra income outside of my normal career. I'm willing to put in the time needed. However, the biggest concern for me is that I live in Los Angeles, where it seems tear-me-downs start at $800k. I'm thinking that if I'm going to seriously pursue this type of investment, I will need to venture outside Los Angeles to do it. Unless someone out there can advise me otherwise. Thanks for welcoming me to the community. Feel free to stop over anytime to borrow some sugar.
