Hey Anthony! Welcome to the real estate journey! Love that you're diving into the wisdom of Kiyosaki and the Bigger Pockets community. Those books are gold mines. Dallas is a great spot for investing.

My two cents: connect with local investors, attend meetups if you can, and soak up their experiences. Real stories beat theory any day. Best of luck with your savings goal and snagging that first property by year-end.

Thank you for your reply. I am in Dallas and started looking yesterday and started to find some local connections myself. I am enjoying networking quite a bit.

Commence my go-to speech.

In my opinion, the biggest mistake first-timers make is not that they buy the wrong thing; it's that they take too long too buy. There's a lot to learn, but so much of it can be learned better by doing than by thinking about it.

I'm not saying don't research. But then find an investment model that feels comfortable (house-hacking is the quickest way to amass properties), find an agent that knows that model, look at homes, run numbers and pull the trigger.

The quicker you buy the first one, the quicker you can buy the second and third and onward. Good luck!

I did not think about that. Currently I am saving money to be able to get my first property. But, I am always looking into good deals and hoping to find a group here in Dallas to join and connect with.

Congrats on choosing your path forward! Have you determined what exit strategy works best for your goals? I'd start there and then develop  relationships with lenders that specialize in that space.

I want to do rentals. I am still looking into local groups here in Dallas to see what other investors there may be.

@Anthony Wilhite, Kiyosaki is great for understanding financial literacy and theory. For more real estate focused methods and practical advice, add to your list, "Set For Life" by Scott Trench and "The House Hacking Strategy" by Craig Curelop. Good luck!

I have added these book on my need to read list. I travel a lot so I listen to a lot of audio books. I do most of my readings when at the gym.

Hey Anthony,

Congrats on deciding to take action. I'd be happy to connect to discuss your business plan. The best advice for you would be to prioritize networking and getting yourself into as many relevant circles as possible. Make every moment count, and when the opportunity arises, don't hesitate to invest in accelerating your progress.

Thank you for your advice,

I sent a connect request, and I would be more than happy to discuss any ideas I may have thought of.

Hi Anthony,

Congratulations!! You are taking a monumental step towards a really fun and rewarding future.

"Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is what started it all for me. After I read that book, I couldn't go back to a typical life. It opened the door to a world of possibility for me.

You are doing all the right things -- immersing yourself into this world with reading, podcasts, and social media -- and BP!

This community is great and super supportive! Feel free to connect with me, and if you have any questions or need someone to run something by, I am all ears! Good luck!

 Of course!

I wasn't sure where to start and buddy of mine said I needed to change the way I thought about my finances.

He gave me his copy of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and I read it and it took me a while, but I am working on getting the right mindset for this next chapter in my life.

Thank you

Hello Everyone,

My name is Anthony. I am 24 years old and I am looking to start investing in real estate and have started reading books to begin my journey. The book I started with is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" By Robert Kiyosaki. I am currently reading "How to Invest in real estate" by Joshua Dorkin and Brandon Turner.

I am hoping to buy my first investment property by the end of the year after savings. I have turned to Bigger Pockets to learn more about investing in real estate and start networking as much as I can. Please reach out to me at anytime I am willing to listen to anyone's story and get to know them.

Thank you for reading
