Thanks to all for replying. I have a better understanding now. I love researching. My county recorder does list recorded documents online, but at this time it only shows the document, not what's in the document. You have to call or go in and use their computers to see that. I can also search the county treasurer website for delinquent taxes. I do these things anyway on the properties I'm interested in, but at this point, will still use a title company.

Another question:

Does anyone know if all liens would be recorded at the county recorder office?

Wondering how people close in one day when title work takes a minimum of a week or two. Do you not use a title company? Thanks
