I’m selling my home to my ex-husband through a purchase agreement. Neither of us has a real estate agent.

How do we set up the agreement? Can someone offer assistance?

Help bigger pockets family! I’m attempting to do a cash out refi on my home that I purchased in 2005 for $749k in the champions area of northwest Houston. The appraised value came in at 633k.  The appraiser used comps in spring which is a totally different neighborhood.  Is this standard for a property to drop in value over 100k over a 15 year period? There is no structural damage, no flooding, etc and the appraiser stated the home was in good condition. What do I do to appeal the appraisers’ report? Clearly there was a mistake in his calculations.

Thanks to everyone who weighed in. This is all extremely helpful information

Thanks so much for the feedback !

I found 2 homes that are priced perfectly in the northwest Houston  area. One is a 5 bedroom 2.5 bath that can be converted into 6 bedrooms. The other is a 5 bedroom 2.5 bath. Both are in a great area, good school district. Are larger homes harder to rent if priced in the median rental price range? I’m afraid that I won’t be able to refi to pull cash because I may not find renters if the homes are too large.

Can an owner of property in Texas still have access to redemption of the property even if their tax lien is paid prior to the property being sold at auction?

I’m a physician in spring, Texas and I see you both are here in Texas
