I am about to sign a lease with a tenant who is paying the whole year upfront. It is mid November and I am concerned about having 10.5 months of rental income for 2016 being on my 2015 tax return. This will raise my tax bracket. Is there any way I can get around this problem?

Hey everyone! I'm a new investor in Indianapolis. I'm a 24 year old truck driver and just bought my first rental property. I put the FOR RENT sign out last week and got a few calls before I got home. In 10 years it will be paid for and I will own a beautiful property bringing in $2,400 in rent from the main house and carriage house every month. But my goal is to own at least 20 units by then.

I'm already looking for my second property (probably a duplex between $80 and $120k) on the west side of Indy in a decent working class neighborhood. If anyone knows of a good investor friendly RE agent please don't hesitate to let me know.
