Post: Pre-foreclosures in MA

Hello BP,

Wondering about the rules and laws surrounding pre-foreclosures in Massachusetts, Worcester specifically.

Basically, my question is how do I go about buying them? Can I legally reach out to the home owner and ask to take the property off their hands or make an offer? Would our real estate agent be involved with this process at all? Still very fuzzy about the details.

My partner and I are looking to purchase our first 2 or 3 family house in the Central MA area and aren't having a ton of luck on the MLS just due to prices being a little out of our range so we're interested in shifting the focus to pre-foreclosures but I'm hearing there is a lot of red tape.

Just looking for someone to maybe explain the details a little better so we know how to approach this method.

Thank you.

Hey guys my name is Andrew, I'm new to BP but have been reading Brandon's books and listening to some BP podcasts and love what this site stands for and I look forward to meeting other players in this real estate game. I'm looking to buy my first multifamily in central mass (worcester specifically) and was wondering if anyone knew any good real estate agents in the area who are seasoned in the multifamily niche.
