Great point Nate... Both, the name of the school is not the most important, but I looked at it as the networking possibility in that avenue as well. I am a Marine as well, your brother is a smart man lol

What are you trying to learn and what scale are you trying to work at?

I am trying to learn the fundamentals and actually take into action ground up development with a sustainable focus ( I have my LEED certification) . My background is in CREI, different assets. Trying to start with small MF possibly (4plex), build to rent, etc.

@Andrew Kiefer I am offering courses free of charge for CRE underwriting and ground up development.

Thank you Barry. I have sent you a DM

Thank you all for the comments so far as well as the recommendations on the books. When I mean SRED, referring to similar to green building, that is correct, coming from Materials, energy efficiency, passive house design, envelope, water collection, SIPS or MODULAR, etc.

I know this has been posted in the past but wanted to know if anyone has done it recently. My goal is to get into RED from a sustainable standpoint and I understand that experience or getting started beats education any day, but just wanted to get further feedback on the same. Thank you

Thank you my friend for the great insight!

Thank you @Mike Wood for your great insight. Just to confirm, are you specifying on the 2-4 unit, either 4plex or townhomes? I understand what you mean on the financing, as 5 units and above is a commercial type loan.  Thank you for the clarification

Thank you @Tanner Sherman for the insight. I want to do the build to rent strategy ideally, but from what I am reading, a lot of starting developers, build to sell to build some capital and then can move to that strategy.

@Pavan Sandhu Hey man, how's it going? I am thinking doing it in my area, Katy, TX, lots of growth and not stopping, I think is a good starting point to get some hands on experience and also understanding the local market and variables

Hey BP Fam, just wanted to know if anyone could have any reference on analyzers for doing some small developments, including, land, construction, etc? Any advice or guidance would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks

Hey BP Family. I wanted to ask for advice from small developers in the forum, to see, what makes more sense as your first smalldevelopment, something like a 4plex, or bigger type of small MF, or like 4+ townhomes in a row? Either strategy, build to rent or build to sell.. and why you make one decision over another ? Also, where would you start first? Discovery and due diligence, finding the land, the design and plans of what you want to build , financing , etc? In which order? I was thinking getting the plans for the project I have in mind and then find the right land for it , etc....
