Hi @Jon Peterson and @Isaac Braun my friend Mohsen has a construction company that specializes in exterior storm restoration. If the exterior was affected by bad weather, he maybe able to help. Your insurance provide on the house would cover the majority of the costs. I recommend giving him a call and setting up an appointment for an inspection. He is very good at identifying storm damage and is very honest. I'll message you his contact information. Good luck!

Home Advisory may have a few handymen in your area.

Hi we hired a general contractor to manage a remodeling project for us. After working with him for weeks on the project and paying him money to do the majority of the work, he got arrested and we found out he may get deported.

Has anyone been in this situation and what are possible routes that can be taken to get our money back?

Thanks!

Here is an update. The basement has water coming into it so we are going to move forward with an interior drain tile system and sump pump. The company I'm considering using offers transferable lifetime warranty on the drain tile and sump pump system, so I would have to finish the basement to get the warranty ( I believe this is a city requirement due to the water proofing material not being fire rated).

Hi we recently bought a property that we are planning to renovate and sell. However, the house is situated lower than the other houses in the neighborhood (see picture), so we were worried about the pooling of water around the base of the house. We are planning on adding gutters to the house. We realized that the land around the house is pretty flat so even with gutters the water may not move very far from the house. Therefore, we are also considering adding a drain tile system and sump pump. The basement is currently unfinished. Since we would be excavating the basement to put in the drain tile system we think it might be best to finish the basement.  Finishing the basement would increase the finished sqft from 1300 to 1960. Does it make sense to finish the basement in this scenario?

Thanks!
