@Michael Long We would be focusing mainly on Jackson Street as well as Jessop Place, and the surrounding streets.  From living there for 2 years, I have a good feeling of where we want to invest and where we should not pursue.  I am interested to pick your brain on the outer areas of York where we could see potential from a different demographic, rather than mostly college students.

The Poconos AirBnb is a great idea, though I am not sure if my partner and I are willing to go that route right off the start. I would like to expand into that space sooner rather than later, and will definitely start taking a look at properties in the Poconos on the MLS and other websites as well. It would be a much nicer commute for me, haha!

@Serge Brice Thank you Serge!  Let's talk soon!

@Michael Long You are totally right, and the ESU area was definitely one of our target markets going into it, though I've only been there one time while attending YCP.  I definitely agree that the crime rates and war zone in York are there, and nothing to mess around with.  I've had my fair share of stories and have been told many more, just while attending the College.  This crime could also work in our favor, as my partner and I are determined to increase the security of our homes, to ensure that the tenants feel safe and will continue to rent from us again.

Honestly, never thought about the Poconos as I always thought it was a vacation spot, but that is also a great idea!

Hello BP Community!

My name is Andrew and I am currently living in New York, NY (Brooklyn area).  I work as an Accountant for a Financial Services Consulting Firm in Midtown.  BiggerPockets was recommended to me from a good friend of mine, and I was instantly hooked.

Currently, I do not have any experience in the Real Estate Investment field, but am extremely interested in diving into it.  My plan right now is to start investing in college rentals with a Business Partner of mine, in the Pennsylvania area, as that is what I have the most recent experience with and think there is a huge opportunity there.  My Partner was a Real Estate Agent during college in the Pennsylvania area, which will be very beneficial to us.

It is a pleasure to meet all of you and introduce myself to this great forum!  I am eager to learn as much as I can and to start connecting with other individuals.

Best,

Andrew C.
