Good luck @Reen Wade! I too am going for my license and I live in Tampa, FL. I have worked in foreclosure law for 7 years and I am seeing first hand that the market is picking up again and people are buying. This means that the business  I am in is slowly dwindling and we have gone through a couple of layoffs. I am excited to get out and start a new career getting people into homes as opposed to getting them out!

@John Baker,

I am planning on doing pretty much exactly what @Chin P. is suggesting. I work roughly 50 hours a week and I am currently living paycheck to paycheck. I say "currently" because my goals are clear to me - I must do more for my wife and my daughter and I will not give up. I am working on getting my license in Real Estate so I can make some money on the side while gaining some valuable experience and knowledge and some networking opportunities. I hope to transition from my current job to full time Real Estate sales then to full time investing. This will take years I'm sure but I believe I will get out of it whatever I put in so I plan to give it everything.

Good luck!

@Bradley Heath, I would just do a Google search for Real Estate classes in Maryville, TN. These classes are everywhere - I'm sure there are some close to you. If location is an issue, look for online classes. My wife and I are doing the online classes simply because our work schedules and our daughter (2 years old) do not give us much flexibility. With the online classes we can complete the course at our leisure.

Thanks @Michael Barbari and @Claire Etienne! It sounds like something I could definitely benefit from seeing as I need to build capital and I have a whole lot to learn. Having those resources available to me early would likely be well worth the price. I appreciate the guidance!

@Bradley Heath, if you have the availability, attend a class in your area. The realtors I have spoken to agree that there is a benefit to the classroom setting as opposed to the online courses. They are usually about $300 and there are enough schedules to choose from so they can accommodate most people. Once you complete the course you will be able to take the exam. Good luck!

Hello fellow entrepreneurs!

I am considering getting my realtor license as an entry point in my investment journey mainly to gain a broader understanding of how all the pieces fit. Is this something that would be worthwhile if my intention is not to be a sales agent but instead an investor?

Also, can good money be made on the side as a sales agent if I already have a full time job? If so, it may be worth it just to have some additional cash to invest.

Thanks!

Thank you for the links, @Dmitriy Fomichenko- I truly appreciate it. I can't wait to get home so I can start digging into the materials!

@Andrew Davis - I'm glad you also did not fall into the trap. I was so motivated to get started that I was being very foolish in my expectations of the program and how far my budget could extend that if I could not close a deal within my first couple of months, I would probably lose my house. I figure I should start small and educate myself first rather than diving in to the deep end without knowing how to swim. Bullet dodged. :)

Thanks again for the support. Good luck to all of you as well!

Hi! My name is Andrew Bondarchuk and I just signed on to this site. I learned about it after searching for reviews on a company that was offering me an opportunity to invest and build a business but the cost of the program was $25k. That does not include any business  or marketing costs and I was about to take out loans and retirement money to do so. I am so very glad that I did a little bit of research and found what appears to be an energetic, passionate and supportive community with a similar goal: to find success in the not so hidden potential of the real estate market.

I look forward to connecting with all of you and learning how to get started! I plan on visiting regularly as I see there is an extensive library of resources. What better time to get started than RIGHT NOW!?
