I'm going to have to apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge in how to respond to people individually on here with the @ symbol. With that being said, I will respond to the above posts in this one post. Thanks for understanding.

I moved to PA in August of 2014. I work at a nail salon in which my aunt runs. It's a family business but I have NO ownership in the business. My goal is to be able to own my own salon within the next 2 years. And yes, if I can own the building in which my nail salon sits, that would be icing on the cake. There was a nail salon in every corner in Orange County, where I lived in CA. I came out to PA thinking that there would be less competition, but to my surprise, there's like 8-9 nail salons within a 2 mile strip on the 19. Based on what my customers have told me, the edge I have on others is that I'm fluent in English (you know that stereotype about Vietnamese manicurists who can't speak English) and that my customer service is superb (I learned this from being in the mortgage industry for so long).

I've always LOVED real estate. I love looking at homes and dreaming about how to fix it up and making it my own. I love watching those types of shows on TV. I had my real estate license in CA (which is still active). I may look into getting my real estate license here in PA. Do you guys know if I would have to start over and take classes for PA law before I can take the test? I guess this is something I would have to google and look into...

Anyway, thanks for all the welcome. You guys are great and I look forward to being a part of this community. :)

Hello. My name is Amy. I recently moved to PA in August 2014 from southern CA. I was in the mortgage industry from 2001 to 2013 (working in title, escrow, loan processing, loan officer, short sale negotiator and back to loan processing) but am now a nail tech (aka manicurist). I changed profession because I wanted to become a business owner and owning a nail salon is a lot more realistic for me than owning a mortgage company. But I still love real estate as I feel like that's where my roots are so I want to start investing in real estate, specifically rental properties. And I know that being part of this BP community will be a wealth of information for me. Thanks.
