I agree with you that it all depends on the situation! It is crucial to assess one's long term goals rather than just focusing on the short term here and now. Is real estate something someone is looking to be in long-term FOR SURE or is it just a present idea that could fluctuate?
Upon getting out of high school in 2020, I didn't know what exactly I wanted to do but I knew I liked real estate. Although college can be costly, I have found it undoubtedly the best decision I could have made as it has been a major stepping stone for my future. Not only is it a great method to learn but it is a perfect way to make lifelong connections.
Through going to college for business, I was able to connect with a few people that led me to get my real estate license during the end of my sophomore year of college (2022). Now, I am a real estate agent in PA but I also am going to be a senior in college this coming fall (2023). It is feasible to do both but it is not easy. What has been extremely helpful is that at my firm, Prime Home Real Estate, I work on a team so I am not left to do everything by myself and I am surrounded by individuals who have experience being at where I want to be.
On the other hand, if real estate is your calling, why wait? The guys I work with on my team never went to college and they are INCREDIBLE at what they do!!! Not going to college does not make you better or worse than the next individual. It is all about how you apply yourself and utilize resources around you!
Overall, looking at the opportunity cost as well as projecting for the future is KEY!!!
