In an attempt to be creative and see things from the other person's view I am going to write this as if I am my neighbor.
A neighbor to a property I own reported me to the city for a living tree that they say forced them to need to resolve their fence. They say the tree pushed the fence over. A few years ago they approached me to contribute to replacing the fence that borders our property. I declined. This time they asked if I would pay for the removal of the tree because it was in the way of them putting the fence back (they removed the fence a couple of weeks ago). I had a landscaping service call them to schedule a time to look at the tree and talk to them about the removal. The neighbors sent me a text asking me if I would contribute to the removal of the tree and I declined but told them they could remove the tree if it was preventing them from putting their fence back up. They have since cut down the tree, but left the tree in place. Can I force them to remove the debris?
Okay, so yeah, it's not a very neighborly situation. Obviously, I'm put off by this person. This owner literally puts as little into their property as possible, even the tenants say so. I'm annoyed with them, and would love to have a way to make them contribute to the repair of the fence that borders our property, but she doesn't care, she doesn't live there and she wants to keep as much profit as possible...I get it, but c'mon some level of maintenance is expected, no?
Anyway, I'll probably haul the debris to the street for them because I don't want to deal with her and it's the neighborly thing to do. But geez, sometimes it's hard to be neighborly towards not-so-nice neighbors.
