I checked here again cause I got a PM from someone on these boards. Sadly, your reply came 2 months after I made my post, leading me to believe there is little to find here for Canadian investors.

Maybe my original post wasn't worded right or there is no one out there that actually has anything to say about the topic. I'll keep checking back every so often, just in case.

Hi all,

I've been a REI for about 3 years now and have finally decided to make the leap and do more deals (the last time I made a deal was 3 years ago, when I started).

I've been re-educating myself (books, web) for the past few months and wanted to join a club, meet like minded individuals and learn more from those that are DOING rather than DREAMING. My first stop was at creonline, where I found a list of clubs in my area. "Great!" I thought, I'll just go to a meeting and everything should fall into place. This did not happen. At the meeting I found that the majority of people were new and/or simply not the kind of quality investor I could learn something from (ask me how I knew this and I'll explain).

Without specifically naming the club meeting I went to (I will if there is legitimate interest beyond gossip), can anyone here recommend a good club in the GTA, where I can find specialists in:

1. Notes/Financing
2. Accounting
3. Foreclosure
4. Alternative REI (i.e. other than SFR/Multiplexes - maybe Land? Mobile Homes? Commercial/Retail?)

My specialty is student housing and I'd be happy to share my experiences with those that are interested. I'm more inclined to do "knowledge trading" (my info for yours), but am more than happy to share what I know with anyone, provided they are genuine, serious, hard working, honest and likely to include me in future deals. :D

So if you know of any such clubs, or even small group gatherings (twice a month coffee and chat with 4-5 other investors would be great!), please chare here!

Alon

Hi all,

I am in Toronto, Canada, am 33 years old and am a current RE investor. I specialize in Student Housing and own a couple of houses near a local university.

I came to this site (and others) to find some information on best practices for my niche as well as try and find some information on different RE opportunities. Ideally, I'd like to invest in some lower maintenance projects, possibly with partners who are starting out and could use my expertise.

Thanks for the great forum, I look forward to perusing it further.
