Hi Folks- first time house hacker. I'm trying to self list my property on Zillow/ Apartments.com/ Avail.Co. Is it possible to list my property and hide the exact address?

I won't be moving in just yet and I'm wary of people just stopping by the property.

Thank you all for the advice. i'm getting a second opinion and doing the camera work again. It's not Clay pipes, but i want to see the condition. Many other contractors and plumbers agreed that if it isn't bad, don't replace it yet.

Hi BP -- I'm currently working on my first House Hack. I'm debating whether or not to fix old sewer waste pipe. It is a huge ticket item and can eat ~30-40% of my reno budget.

Today I did a walk through with plumbers and contractors. My new property is in a small urban town near NYC. During inspections and walk-throughs with professionals the ancient waste sewer line were flagged as an issue because it is very old, probably cast iron or something. I've done camera work and the plumber said they see light root growth, but I could clean the pipes annually to prevent growth and back ups. They suggested while the property is vacant it is easier to repair, which costs 10-15k.

The professional recommendations fell into two buckets. Replace it before it breaks and while the property is vacant. The second bucket is jet clean it twice a year for $300-$600 and install a flapper valve that prevents it from backing up. This way i can put more money into the kitchen and bathrooms that will increase my property value.

Hoping for some additional thoughts.

Hi BP Community - I recently just closed on my property in West New York NJ. I'm currently living in Hoboken, but my landlord is not willing to allow me to terminate my lease early, find a replacement , or sublet while my roommate continues to stay here. There is a chance I have to live here for the duration of my lease, which ends August 31st.

to help save cash, i'm considering doing a STR on my property for 2-3 months while i have moved my stuff there and live between my new home and my current apartment.

Does anyone know about the WNY STR scene? Any other ideas to help not pay a mortgage and rent for 3 months?

my lender is willing to eat some of the fees to keep my rate. So i think i'm whole for now. thanks everyone for your help!

Quote from @Chris Battaglia:

Are there other factors outside of the rate increase that have you wanting to cancel the contract? Seems like the rates wouldn't have changed enough in that timeframe to significantly impact your numbers, but I don't know any specifics of the deal. You've got something you were once interested in under contract and now you'd have to start over, so if there's any way to salvage it/make it make sense that's what I'd be trying to do.

I locked my rate in Nov. And it expired in Jan. It went from 7.0 to 7.65

I've been under contract for 3 months. After months of waiting, the seller finally was able to finish taking out an oil tank and get state regulatory approval. Since then my rates have gone up and the deal isn't as attractive. Is it too late to cancel the deal? My agent and lawyer and loan officer obviously are pushing to close fast.

Hi - I am looking at investing in a true Duplex. The house has a bonus basement unit. Are there concerns with renting out the unit as a 3rd bonus unit?

@Kelly Ke did you end up investing in multifamly housing in montclair? I am interested in doing the same. is it still a good market?
