Hi,

I am looking for some more information on the best ways to househack in North Jersey at around 5% down. Desirable houses that I have seen are starting at 650k, but I was wondering if there are other sources to look instead of online postings.

Thanks!

Hi All - looking to get some advice on how much I should have in cash when seeking a property in North Jersey at 5% down. I understand there are figures beyond the downpayment and I am looking for a home at the range of $425,000 - $510,000. I have found some good properties that have sold quick.

Additionally, if anyone is aware of better channels to looks for deals and prices rather than the typical Zillow, Realtor, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

@Andrew Postell thank you for the explanation here - greatly appreciated! This all makes sense to me.

Looks like the house hacking method at more than 3.5% down would be a better option without the expectation of cashflow.

Thanks all!

Thanks, @Joseph Guzzardi Jr for the insight. Perhaps immediate cash flow, even minimal, is not necessarily feasible with the FHA route.

Apart from that, are there any areas in northern or central NJ that you have seen to be great multifamily locations?

Hi All - looking to purchase my first investment home in the northeast area (currently living in northern New Jersey). I plan to use an FHA loan on a multifamily property and house hack for a year or two.

I was wondering if anyone had insight into which areas would provide good cash flow and or appreciation. I am open to NJ and CT
