If I were you, I would be thinking of doing an opportunistic 1031 exchange of the condo into a larger building. We have had a lot of success recently with clients in West town, so that is a good spot to look!

Does the 1031 get tricky to pull off with having to match up the timing of buying and selling?

My condo is in West Town (Grand & Ashland). Was my old condo that I lived in and is now rented out.

My three flat is near the Clyborn/Diversey/Damen intersection.

I am looking nearby there.

Hi there,

I am Ali and I am based in Chicago and own locally. I have a 3-flat and a condo. I am wanting to add one more property this year.

My goals with BiggerPockets is to be a part of, learn from, and leverage the community.

I first got started with real estate by buying a 3-flat on a whim 5 years ago and now I am back for more.
