I'm the retailer, but based in Charlotte. My normal GC is struggling to find subs so far from his home base.

Does anyone know of any GC's in the Boone area that can work with modular home builders?

Andrew,

The market has been great in Charlotte, and everywhere I guess. Let me know if you're looking to build multi family, we have some modular options available. Good luck and I'm sure you'll kill it down here.

I’ve had great success with Jim Powderly. I can get you his info if you’d like

Please let me know if you're looking for a modular home, we would be more than happy to help you out.

Thomas,

It's a great area to invest. All of the areas that you mentioned have their strengths and weaknesses. If you are going to be living there for the first year, you may want to consider your commute to work. Belmont, Mt Holly, and Concord allow you to use 85 while Pineville & Matthews are going to be more contingent on 485 or 74(traffic traditionally much worse) to get Uptown or to Southend. Also, depending on your price point, you may want to look into some pockets of E Charlotte for some decent value.

Good luck and please let me know if I can help with anything.

Al

@Jake Silverman Andy Thomas has always been very good at investor needs in and around Charlotte.

@Madigan Tumilowicz  A good one to get a general idea of the area is R&D in the QC, it's hosted by 2 city councilmen and will provide some background on what's going on in the city. Also, for  more commercial RE, I'd highly recommend "Retail Redeveloped" by Adam Williams. He has his finger on the pulse of the city as much as anyone. Both should help broaden your view of the region but they won't be able to offer much in the way of residential RE.

Good luck!

@Jonathan Greene Thanks so much Jonathan

Try asking the food trucks if they know of any looking for community kitchen space. Some states require them to have a brick & mortar kitchen for storage and such. You'd have to sink some cash in, but may be able to figure out how to turn some of the space into rental space.
