@Victor So

my comparable building is three units with a bill of $100 a month. So since this is four units, I expect it will be a little more but not 4x as much.

@Paul De Luca

It has four units. This bill includes sewer and trash too. But my other unit is less than a mile away with three units and it costs $100 a month for those three.

it’s absurdly high.

Glad I’m not alone in this. I welcome any other context or support

I purchased a property in Chicago in 2024 and pay $400 a month for my water bill (unmetered). I have another comparable property and pay $100 a month (metered) within a mile of the other property.

I am really needing a meter installed to lower my monthly bill.  The Meter Save program was discontinued in Chicago in 2022 and it seems there are no viable options that I qualify for (I’ve looked at the department of waters options and I don’t fit the qualifications).

this feels like I’m getting ripped off each month in the bill and am really needing support here. I’ve gone to the alderman, I’ve reached out to a news reporter. All dead ends.

Does anyone have experience with this? I appreciate any support.

Thanks,

Alex
