Recently we decided to convert our Airbnb that is in a saturated market to a medium term rental. I listed it on a "Traveling Medical professional" website. We received an inquiry from someone who is not a medical professional but they did the back ground check and have great credit. I am not set up with a lease or anything. It is the only person that has inquired and they seem like a great option. What's next!!? Do I call and interview them?

I am in Sarasota/Bradenton, FL and you are right, the market is hot! However the ROI for short term rentals is great! My husband and I are currently looking to buy in Northern Georgia/ Western North Carolina because we have family their. That area and Pigeon Forge, TN are great areas for STR! Let me know if have any other questions.

@Joshua Carr

I am near Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and Siesta Key. With your purchasing budget you can get a great ROI with a vacation rental. I would move forward with getting approved for the second home because it will move you further along than removing PMI of $70.

Let me know if you have any questions about the area!

I was referring to property taxes and income tax. I live in Florida our property tax is moderate. We do not have a state income tax. Sometimes property taxes are significantly different in neighboring states and it makes a difference. Thank you, I totally agree!

My husband and I are looking to purchase a STR (Short term rental) somewhere near the Georgia, North Carolina border. We are curious if there are tax benefits to one or the other. Any ideas?
