Glad some agree that a stigma does exist. Jon, I like your suggestions on how to fix the issue. The landlord image needs a Hollywood make over more than Mel Gibson!

I'm troubled by the negative emotions associated with the title "Landlord". Why do you think landlords are the butt of jokes and casted as villains?

I believe it's because many landlords want to passively extract money for communities and don’t want to contribute their pro-rata share towards advocating for the neighborhood. Is there an expectation for owners to do more than just keep up their property, but to actively be good neighbors as well?

It takes time to turn a neighborhood around. If you're in for the long haul and are willing to engage the community to decrease disorder, then I would point you to best practices for community building. Otherwise, keep your money in the bank, troubled neighborhoods are not good for quick flips.
