Update: I installed some 1x6 and crown to give the basic cabinets a more custom look then I got the cabinets painted, here's some before and after pics. What ya think?

Personally, I would use your own money but that's assuming two things: you're not an idiot and the numbers work.

yeah, the guy told me painting is easier than staining and he also mentioned once its painted you kinda got what you got. Im confident i could do this project myself but i'm not feeling it, ya gotta pick and choose your battles...

Guys, thanks for all the input. It's a rehab property, nothing is wrong with the cabinets other than they look dated. 

My plan is an espresso color update with new granite tops. For the neighborhood it would be a nice bonus, plus give the property a nice pop. This company has done this many times, just figured I would run it by the BP peeps to get feedback.

My small kitchen would be about 300.00.
