Hey @Scott K. I actually just closed on my first deal here in East New York. When I was visiting properties I definitely noticed alot of new development going on so you may be right in that assessment.

Investment Info:

Small multi-family (2-4 units) buy & hold investment in Brooklyn.

Recently renovated 2-family property house-hack deal under $1M.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I was looking to house hack as my first RE investment deal.

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

I worked with closely with Abel Curiel and Narek Chil along with the rest of the Gold Bar Team at eXp Realty. They were extremely helpful and taught me a lot while guiding me through my first deal! This is the first of many with them!

@Ralph Chiaia I had plans of looking in the North Ironbound area. But after meeting with Abel, I decided to invest in a property in Brooklyn, NY. Going forward I may look to Newark or possibly Trenton.

@Nicole (Dunlap) Pendergrass thank you for the insight! I'm also looking to move out of Harlem to possible house hack in the Bronx (specifically the Melrose area).

@Pedro Sena that's awesome Pedro. What's your opinion on finding undervalued properties in the Melrose area of the Bronx?

@Abel Curiel yes, I wholeheartedly agree! Thank you for your input. I think the toughest thing for me is actually locating those undervalued deals. I plan on taking a drive through Newark this weekend to see if there's properties worth looking into.

Hi @Abel Curiel & @Adam Leitman Bailey

I was actually looking to do the same as well in NYC. I'm currently renting in Harlem but was looking at possibly house hacking in the Bronx. Looking at Mott Haven/Melrose neighborhood. Cash flow would be nice but not necessary. Will probably look to use 203k or home-style as I'm currently learning about that process.

@Krista Kennedy that's awesome. Congrats!

Wow congrats Tim! That’s pretty inspiring. I live in NYC as well and I’ve been hesitant on long distance investing because I’m a newbie as well but now I have no excuses.
