Hi @Jasmine Benford, Focusing on increasing your assets, i.e. saving for DP for house hack would be more beneficial than decreasing your liabilities. Hope this helps.

Hi BP, My name is Akeem Wheatley, I am working as an engineer in the state of Texas. 

No background in RE other than buying my home with a consumer mindset (ugh!).

My short term goals are to purchase 1 investment property (buy & hold) before 2017 year-end and start side hustling for real estate deals in July-August time frame. Long term goals is to be job optional in 10 years or less, I do still like my job but I do see the limitations of relying solely on one income. I have to admit I was a BP shadow member for quite some time and decided it was time to step up and be active in the BP community. I look forward to meeting great folks and being able to share success stories when it happens!
