Noel, This is the kind of deal I am hoping to find for my first. This price range and property type is exactly what I am looking for. I am also curious to know how best to approach a realtor in a situation like this. Would you hire them as a buying agent? Good luck! I look forward to seeing how this works out for you! Adam

Hello BP!

My name is Adam and I have lived in Marysville, Ohio for 3 years.  My interest in real estate developed after I discovered the bigger pockets podcast.  I was listening to The Radical Personal Finance Podcast and Josh, the host, suggested checking out biggerpockets.com.  I found the podcast and have been listening every since!

My wife and I are very good about saving and living below our means. We have been diligent about investing in low cost index funds through our IRA's but something deep down tells me it is not going to be enough. This is where I feel real estate investing can be an exciting way to make money work for me and help me towards my ultimate goal of financial freedom.

I am an Assistant Engineering Manager for fire apparatus manufacturer based in Hilliard, OH.  I LOVE my job and the company I work for and I do not plan on leaving anytime soon.  But, I do want the option to leave if I ever choose to do so.  My plan to get there is build m real estate portfolio one house at a time.  I want to buy distressed single family homes, fix them and hold them to generate cash flow.  If I find a good enough deal, and can sell for enough profit, I will use a 1031 exchange and invest in a higher priced property.

I look forward to meeting fellow investors and learning from the best here on BP!
