I would say the first book you should read is Think and Grow Rich which @Sharad M. listed. He's right that it's not an investment book but it's a must read for success. I haven't finished them since I just received them the other day but the BP books, "The Book on Flipping Houses" and "The Book on Estimating Rehab Costs". so far so good.....Good luck to you!

We personally had bed bugs. We didn't know what hit us! My husband brought them back after a out of town trip with his motorcycle crew and found out the hotel was infested. We didn't have a clue-in the beginning we just had bites and thought it was mosquitoes but then I looked online and realized we had a bed bug problem (which was confirmed when we flipped the mattress over). We went to the extremes and threw out the mattress and box spring..we washed everything in the room and took down the pictures and saw they were behind the pics as well. I went to Home Depot and got DE and put it along the baseboards in the room and in the carpet but this was after I sprayed everything with alcohol (dried them out). It was time consuming and didn't have any problems until 3 months later they were back, in our new bed and box spring. I got bedbug covers for the bed/box springs and repeated the same process and so far 5 months later we've been bedbug free......I say spray/wipe everything down with alcohol to dry them out then put the DE down everywhere and see what happens...good luck and hope this helped!

@Joe Fairless Thanks for the welcome to my post as well as the messages! My empire has started in my mind only, but hey, that's where you win the battle-thoughts first and everything else will follow! So, yes, I have an empire! lol

Brandon, I have not had a chance to check out the podcast. I completed the Ultimate Beginner's Guide for us newbies-lots of great stuff on there. I ordered the two books on flipping and rehabbing houses (can't wait). I've connected with a few people in the areas that I'm interested in and I looked up four REIA's in my area....my plate has been full but I definitely have the Podcast on my to do list.

I totally appreciate the site and the people on here have been really helpful.

Thanks Brandon for the suggestion and I will make it happen.

I'm currently reading "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. I love this book because it really made me take the steps I needed to work towards my real estate goals. That is how I found this site and I know I'm definitely omw! I'm working on my first goal by doing something towards it daily! Really a good read.

Tim and Paul thanks for the warm welcome. There is sooo much on here that it's unbelievable but I'm totally excited!

Tim you are so right. Just talking about real estate won't get me where I need to be and that's what I've done for so long but now is my time to act and I plan on doing just that and I'm really glad to have the support of the BP family!

Paul, thanks for the starter tips and what I need to start doing. I will take your advice and begin at the beginning so I can become familiar with this site and I'm certain I will be reaching out to you sometime (if you don't mind).

Again, thanks for the welcome!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself and let everyone know that I'm here! I'm soooo excited and I feel like a sponge-ready to soak up any and all information out there. I'm a newbie to this site as well as to the investment market. I've been reading the different forums, topics, threads and blogs and it's a lot to take in. After a few days, I decided to take the plunge and sign up as a member-here I am.

I'm in the DC/MD area (so all of you DMV members-yawl be nice now (Texas drawl)) and wouldn't mind investing out here, but I currently have a rental property in Spring, TX (relocated from TX about a year and a half ago) and originally from Los Angeles, CA. My heart is in Cali (I plan on returning there real soon-can't say I like the cold weather) and wouldn't mind investing out there but in the meantime, I'm making the best of where I currently reside.

I look forward to meeting people and networking as well as learning from everyone and making things happen. I'm happy, positive, easy-going and of course excited (can't you tell)!

Thanks for having me!

Takeisha
