I've had my eye on Birmingham since 2018, but have always had an excuse to keep from pulling the trigger. In 2019 I put an offer on a property in Birmingham, but I backed out at the last minute and started a business instead. It was the best worst decision because I lost everything, but I learned so much in a condensed amount of time. No more excuses, I am making the move and going to make this happen.
I chose Birmingham because I have a connection who owns rental properties in the area, but he lives in Utah. I know I can't do this alone and I need to make the right connections to make this work. I will be working my day job during the day and rehabing properties at night. I am in the process of moving from Utah to Alabama and need help with the following things:
1) Financing - I am currently filing for bankruptcy and need to figure out what options I have to get financing.
2) I can do a lot of the work on my own, but I will need help with electrical and plumbing. Does anyone have a good electrician and plumber they would recommend?
3) Being new to the area I need help getting familiar with the area. I am also new to real estate investing and would appreciate pointers. I realize that there will be surprises along the way, but I hope to minimize the impact of big mistakes by learning from the BiggerPockets family who are ahead of me in the real estate journey.
Look forward to connecting with y'all and joining the movement.
