@Ryan Kirk thank you for the podcast referrals. i started listening to Sarah Larbi's podcast and it seems to fit the area i'll most likely be looking in (southern Ontario)

Thank you for the welcome and information @Gaurav Dhir and @Omar Khan. i'll try to attend some meetups, and look outside the GTA. Possibly Hamilton or Saint Catherines, as well as the Kithcner-Waterloo Area.

If there are any blog posts you can recommend i read as they pertain to the Canadian market, that would be greatly appreciated. BP has a lot of information, but picking out the info that pertains to Canada does take some time. Hopefully as i grow, i can add more Canadian based knowledge to BP.

My Name is Anthony Butler. I currently work as a software developer in Toronto, and after many years of long hours and late nights, i started questioning whether i wanted to continue this path into my 30's and 40's (currently 28). After researching ways of generating passive income i stumbled upon the amazing Bigger Pockets podcast, which brought me here. 

I hope to get started in Real Estate Investing, as a new passive income stream that will grow over many years. I'd like to start in the GTA area (if possible buy a duplex to live in 1 part and rent out the other) and branch out to other areas in Ontario, as i gain more experience, and partnerships with like minded people.

I'd like to add that BiggerPockets is a great site filled with a wealth of information, and i am anxious to consume as much as possible. Starting with the Ultimate Beginners Guide to Real Estate Investing.

Can't wait to meetup and learn from all the experience investors on the forum as well as the newbies like me, and having great discussions about the Real Estate investing world.
