I just want to thank everyone for their opinions and thoughts. We ended up withdrawing an offer because we want to be more secure before doing any of this. Next time I’m looking at homes I’ll have 20 percent down and a lot of extra cash on hand. So now we will wait. Maybe even pay our mortgage off early.

@Michael Lee you seem very against real estate from what I’ve read. You do make some valid points. Out of curiousity why do you stay on bigger pockets if real estate it’s the for you?

Ok so I feel kind of lost. My wife and I live in Raleigh, NC and own a townhome. With about 60,000 in equity. It would make a great rental for a would be first time landlord. We would probably make 250 a month on it. We want to buy another townhome to do this process all over again. But don’t have 20% down payments and would have PMI. Is leaving the 60,000 in equity on the first home a bad idea? Or is it ok to leave it there and let it keep growing? Are some of you accepting of paying PMI on a property?

Does anyone invest in this area? Do you like it? I'm looking to maybe start in this area because houses are inexpensive here. Any information would help!

My wife and I have bought a home. It was our first. My wife's credit wasn't great so they only put me on the loan. But her on the deed. If we go to buy another house and do the opposite(her buy it and put me on deed) would we still get first time home buyer benefits?
