I converted my primary residence into a rental December of 2022 after buying a new home. After a mediocre year of renting we've decided to sell. Will we owe capital gains tax on the rental property after just one year of renting? What are recommended strategies to avoid or minimize this tax besides moving back in or doing a 1031? 

I’m starting the process of investing in real estate. We are looking into small multi or single family home for buy and hold. We want to own locally in SW Wisconsin but prices are really high. What are ways folks are finding cash flowing rental desks in this area?
