I'm a new investor. I live in the Chicago south suburbs. I currently have one investment property located near my home, and it's in my name. I'm looking to buy more and I want to look in the northwest Indiana area. I'm looking for an attorney to speak with about setting up LLC or other recommended asset protection. Being that I live in IL, currently have one investment property in IL, and now want to look to buy in IN, where should I set up this entity. Please advise.

Is there a strategy for shopping for the HELOC? I started with the bank that did my last mortgage. Does anyone have any recommendations?

So, I'm a new investor.  My wife and I bought our first condo at the end of 2017.  It's rented with great tenants.  It's not cash flowing much, but it's paying for itself.  I'm looking to buy another property and get more serious about our real estate investing.  I was thinking about joining the Chicago Area Real Estate Investors Association or the Northwest Indiana Creative Investors Association, or both.  Does anyone have any feedback on these groups?  Or know of better groups to join?  Or have general opinions on joining groups such as these?  I feel the need for mentor(s) and contacts to guide me along and increase my education.  I live just southwest of Chicago.

Thanks, Grant.  Good points.

Thanks for the feedback

Im looking for cash to buy rental property. I have some equity in my home. Should I refi to pull out some cash for use as down payment or us a HELOC? ...or is there another option.
