Offer number 2-now with chickens!
Wow, this business sure has a lot of ups and downs, and we're technically not even in it yet!
Our previous (first ever) offer fell through after the inspection, the seller was not willing to fix the many things wrong, as was (in my opinion) a little snippy about it in his counter offer. The house went off the market immediately (as far as we can tell) so he may have had a backup offer ready. We were of course disappointed, but I think we learned a lot from the experience and are already making better choices based on this experience.
After taking a break from the house-hunting, I went back to Zillow-ing on my lunch break and found an adorable duplex in a similar area for the same price. I loved the pictures, and sent it to my husband right away. He reminded me that we had said we would wait to line up the end date of our current lease better with a possible closing. But this house was so perfect! So we went to see it.
And offered on it then and there.
It's a better size for us, 2br/1ba on each side, comes with 2x washers/dryers, and fridge and stove on one side. The seller is a chef, and has a garden complete with chickens (!) in the side yard. It's on a corner, with a great yard and a two car garage. The basement is unfinished, but seems dry and one side (would be our side) has a bar down there! Now if only we had friends to come over...
So, I'm trying not get too excited over this one, as I have been disappointed before, but it's hard not to when it seems so perfect for us. Will update tomorrow with the news, cross your fingers and your toes for us!!
