Boise, Idaho: In the News

Through the Buzz About Boise our goal is to keep you updated on all that is happening in the growing Treasure Valley.  This week we focus on some up and coming projects that will undoubtedly add more value to our area.

Caldwell, Idaho:  The city of Caldwell, 30 minutes from Boise, is starting a highly anticipated downtown project; Trolley Square.  The first order of business for the construction of Trolley Square, an 11-screen Reel Theatre.  Downtown Caldwell has not had a movie theatre since the 1980s when the historic Top Theater closed.  The Reel Theatre will have 850 – 900 seats, most with luxury recliners.  The Reel Theatre’s opening date is set for May 2018.

Boise, Idaho:  The Boise Spectrum, said to be Boise’s original entertainment district, has plans to refresh their look and begin tapping into the national trend of public markets.  The Boise Spectrum, currently known as the location for Edwards 21 Theatre will begin converting four empty store fronts into CHOW Public Market & Eateries.  The Boise Spectrum will only have local businesses, no national chains.  Opening date for the Public Market is scheduled for May 2018.

Boise, Idaho:  A dirt lot has sat at the corner of Fairview Ave. and 27th Ave. for quite some time.  Close to Downtown Boise, it was only a matter of until the owner of the land, St. Luke’s Health System, began a project.  Well, St. Luke’s has looked to the City of Boise for approval of a 230,000 sq. ft. hospital to be built on the dirt lot.  St. Luke’s would open an orthopedic care center which would relieve some of the pressure felt by the downtown St. Luke’s hospital.

Kuna is the 14th biggest city in Idaho, but with 400 homes predicted to be built each year, that rank will quickly change.  Kuna High School, built in 2002, has a capacity of 1,500.Currently, 1,700 students are enrolled at Kuna High School.  The new high school will start with a capacity of 500 students, but will be designed to add additional wings to bring the capacity count to 1,500.
