Eagle Mountain Lake in Tarrant and Wise Counties, Texas was born nearly 90 years ago. The reservoir is the result of damming the West Fork of the Trinity River. It spreads across 8,694 acres while greeting the residents of four North Texas cities: Azle, Fort Worth, Newark and Pelican Bay.
Interestingly, Eagle Mountain Lake is the product of a dam which received permitting for construction in 1928. Two years later that construction began lasting another two years. In 1934 water impounding began and within 37 years the lake would see controlled spillways.
