Real Estate - All Day, Every Day

When I was in college, I tried hard to get good grades.  I mostly did it for the pride of being able to make good grades (and because my wife really wanted me to make good grades).  The problem was... my heart was not in it.  When college got really tough, I changed majors.  (I tried to study accounting at first... Way too hard).

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't like to learn.  I LOVE TO LEARN!  Education is an everyday pursuit, for me.  In school, I learned a lot of great things, but I just wasn't passionate about anything in particular.  That is, until I found real estate!

I'm like most people... I read Rich Dad Poor Dad, and couldn't stop thinking about the dream of passive income.  Real estate seems to be the best avenue for finding passive income, that I have seen - unless you already have millions of dollars to throw in the stock market, and are able to live off dividends.  If that's the case, just do that.

For me though, I do not have a lot of money, so I need a way to leverage what I do have - TIME.  Now that I am graduated, I have time!  It is so great.  Like I said in an earlier post, I am now an acquisitions manager for a local real estate investor.  It is so great!  Yesterday, I sent off my first direct mail campaign!  And today, I am learning about bandit signs.  I've read the article about the ugly truth about bandit signs that BiggerPockets featured, but we just want to give them a shot.  I'll write another post about the success of the bandit signs campaign later on to see if we are going to continue or not.

Long story short, I am studying real estate, or doing something related to real estate ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.  And I love it!  I still don't have a rental property, and I haven't even gotten a deal generated at all, but the process has been phenomenal.  I'm so grateful that I am able to learn under a competent investor.  I think I would be very overwhelmed if I was to try to get into all this by myself.  My advise to any newbie is to find someone who is already killing it, and offer any type of service to them.  Getting that education, while experiencing what it is like to be an investor, is priceless.
