Why routine isn't boring with David Berry of NASB Bank
The word “routine” can sometimes imply, for lack of a better word, boring activities. There’s your morning routine, a routine dental procedure, and a routine engine check – among other routine things. You might find that people associate routines with habitual patterns that become almost like muscle memory; a routine that has become so regular that it’s a part of you. It’s standard. It’s customary. It’s familiar. It’s safe. That’s why when David Berry of NASB Bank described working with MountainSeed as routine, we didn’t take offense.
ROUTINE STREAMLINES PROCESSES.Think about your own day-to-day workflow. Do you complete your to-do list in a specific order? Do you tackle one task before another? Is there a process for your activities? Chances are, you answered yes to one of the aforementioned questions. You complete tasks in a specific order to streamline your process and essentially make your life easier. That’s what it should be like to work with an AMC. It should feel easy. It should be comforting. David says, “I like using one AMC because it’s streamlined. We know there is a single point of contact for questions or concerns. Other financial institutions could work with many AMCs, and it can get very chaotic.”
ROUTINE ESTABLISHES REPERTOIRE.Through a routine, you can establish a relationship. When we sat down to chat with David, he even touched on this, “Using one AMC – it gets routine – if you need to talk to someone [at MountainSeed] it’s the same person.” We encourage all of you to establish a relationship with your chosen AMC. Get to know them and let them get to know you. Expect open communication and a user-friendly experience.
ROUTINE IS COMFORTING.When David describes his own workflow process, he can rattle it off without thinking twice about it. First he gets the order from the loan officer, gathers the file, enters the info into MountainSeed’s appraisal software and uploads any files that might be needed. He explains, “It’s really simple. If there’s a message, I’ll leave any notes with them. If there’s something out of the ordinary, MountainSeed will post a message on the board which will send me an email, and we can communicate that way.” Even though David has only been at NASB Bank for a little over a month, he’s already used to working with one person at MountainSeed and knows his routine like the back of his hand.
When did routine become something boring? If anything, routine is something that you can trust. If you’re still in the market for an AMC you can come to truly know, we’d welcome an opportunity to chat more. We’d love to be a part of your appraisal process.
