Resale Value & Roofs

The “Remodeling Impact Report” conducted by the National Association of Realtors and National Association of the Remodeling Industry in 2015 found that realtors ranked the roof highest in terms of projects likely to add value to the home for resale. A new roof outranked new vinyl or wood windows, a new fiberglass or steel front door, new vinyl siding and a new garage door.

In addition to this, fixing the exterior vs fixing the interior is also less hassle free, less costly, and as mentioned above increases the value of the home much more.

Another thing to consider, if one is redoing the roof, one mind as well to consider existing brick, stone, siding or other building material; and add value by getting the best color mixture for the look of the house.  Do not forget the roof represents 40% of the exterior.
