Well I'll be.. A year later.. We finally have a deal (or two :D)

This year. It's been HIGH.. and it's been loooooooow. Shopping, analyzing, offering. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. 13 months of learning. 8 months actively seeking properties. Going into three properties and having to say buh-bye after the inspection comes back with a laundry list of items which look messier than a teenager room.

Months, upon months of self doubt. Is the stress worth it? Will my wife kill me before this is over (the jury is still out on this one)? Will my realtor in Michigan tell me to eff off after looking at so many properties for me? Will I still have hair, albeit grey hair, after this?

Yesterday, FINALLY, we closed on two duplexes in Detroit. And I thought, FINALLY, I can relax, a bit. But I was more stressed after closing, than I was during the closing process. Why? Well, now the real work begins to prove to my family this journey is what will set us on the path to an early retirement. It's only four units. Both cash flow positive, once their filled, and I know they will be quickly (have some faith people). But there is still the lingering doubt of "What if..?"

In my regular line of work, people always ask, "Well, what if?" And I tell them I can what if them to death. It's a never ending cycle. Eventually you have to believe in your team, and your decisions, and allow the process to work. I know this journey will allow me and my wife to retire early, like her parents did. And allow me to pass along knowledge, and a good inheritance, to my children.

But at least, for now, I can celebrate all the mind-numbing hours I've sank into spreadsheets. I can celebrate dealing with last minute issues of trying to insure vacant properties in Detroit (this part sucked. Bigly ;D). And i can celebrate finally having success in taking a step forward to our financial freedoms :)

All the best to you all in 2018!
