How Can You Make Sure You Have A Good Manager?

There are so many potentially great managers available to hire that you have a lot of opportunities to find someone amazing. You want to make sure that you find someone that you are compatible with. You don’t want to hire someone that doesn’t fit your company culture. You don’t want someone who might not be a good fit.

One way that you can tell if someone will be a good fit for your company is to ask them to take the Meyer-Briggs test. While this isn’t the only factor that you should consider, it is definitely a key indicator if someone is going to have the characteristics that you need in a manager.

Another way that you can make sure that you have a great manager is by offering incentives. If you offer incentives, you need to make sure that they are measurable, attainable, and easy to understand. You want your manager to be highly motivated to keep your facility rented. You want them to make your bottom line better every month. Incentives are a great way to do this.

Don’t put your manager in a position where they can cheat the system. You don’t want someone to be tempted to push tenants into staying until the end of the month or misrepresenting numbers just so that they can make a little extra money.

Finally, you want to make sure that you are managing your manager. You need to know enough about how to run your business that you can train them to do the best job possible. In addition, you need to check up on them and verify what they are telling you. If you don’t ever double check what they are telling you, you are leaving yourself open to having someone embezzle from you.

Find a manager that fits your culture and training style, offer them bonuses so that they will always be motivated to perform to the best of their ability and finally make sure that you are holding them accountable. As always, happy investing.
