RV & Boat Storage Services Can Be Profitable Streams of Income!

If you have extra space on your property, whether it is the former parking lot of your conversion project or a portion of your property you can’t add a structure to, RV and boat storage can be a profitable way to utilize that space. There are essentially two models you can follow with RV and boat storage. You can simply provide a space for people to store their vehicles, or you can offer some level of additional services which will provide you with additional streams of income.

There are several additional services that you can offer. You can do something as simple as pulling out peoples’ RVs or boats for them, so it is ready to go when they get there. You can also offer a cleaning service. If you are in an area where boats must be completely cleaned before they can be used again that could be a big selling point over other RV & boat storage places.

You can also provide maintenance. If so, how much maintenance are you going to offer. If you are in a cold area, are you going to offer winterization services? Will you have a dump station? These are all additional income sources.

Another revenue stream may be that you want to have one section where you allow people to live in the trailers for short periods of time. If you are going to do that, you might need to have access to water on your lot, and you will also need to check with the city to make sure that you can offer that service.

If you decide to offer these services, you need to remember that this is a very different business model. You won’t just be in the self-storage business you will be in the service business too. So, if you don’t want to be in the service industry then this is not the right thing for you. Carefully consider your options with RV and boat storage and as always, happy investing.
