Your Website is Your Best Marketing Asset – Use it Wisely

You must have a user friendly website. You also need a self-storage website that is mobile friendly and tablet friendly and desktop friendly. Your website must also be fast. If your website isn’t fast & easy to use, your potential renter will move on to another facility.

You want your website to be professional and inviting. This may be the only time that you interact with your renter, so you want to make sure that they have a good experience. You know that they want to know how much a self-storage unit rents for and if it is available to be rented now. Make sure that it is easy to find that information and that you have a call to action inviting them to rent that unit right now.

At a very minimum your website should be welcoming and show your potential renter pictures of your self-storage facility. If possible, show them an approximation of how much they can fit in each size unit. This way they will know if they need to rent a larger unit size.

Allow your renters to reserve a unit online and then sign the paperwork when they arrive at your self-storage facility. This way they know that they have a reserved unit, and you know that you have locked in a tenant. When possible, have them give you all of their information.

If you don’t have all of your tenants set up on automatic payments, make sure that it is easy for them to make their payments on your website. You also want this to be easy to find so that they can easily pay their rent each month.

To get a good idea of what to do with your website, go check out the competition. What did they do that you like and what did they do that you hate? Once you have done your research, then you can make the best self-storage website possible.

You need to have your website pull up in the first few places when someone does a Google search. If you are number 16 on the Google search, then no one is going to scroll down that far to find you. There are companies that can help you with your search engine optimization or SEO. Google will probably drive more than half your business to your self-storage facility.

Your website reflects your company. Present yourself in the way that you want to be perceived. As always, happy investing.
