How Do I Grow My Self-Storage Empire Through Marketing?

When you are in the self-storage business, you want to make sure that everyone knows you are in the self-storage business. You want to make sure that when someone thinks about self-storage, they think about you, when someone is thinking of selling their property, you want them to think of you, when someone needs to store their belongings, they think of you, anytime the word self-storage is mentioned, you want people to think of you. There are several ways that you can do this through marketing. This is the first of a series of blogs on how you can market to get people to associate you with self-storage.

The Importance of Having a Signature on Your E-mail

Every e-mail that you send out should have a signature that reminds people you are in the self-storage business, even your personal e-mails. The first time that someone receives an e-mail from you with your new signature, it will catch their attention and hopefully get them to check out your links. Family and friends may know that you are in self-storage, but they may not have checked out your sites until you offer them the direct links. After that, your signature will just be a subtle reminder that that is what you do.

When people need to do something new, they typically ask a friend or family member for a referral. If your friends and family remember that you have a self-storage facility, they are likely to let their friends and family know that they should rent from you when they need self-storage. If they hear that someone is in the market to sell a facility, you want them to think of you. One way to do this is by having your signature mention that you are always in the market for a new facility.

When you create your signature, include your name and contact information, include a link to your website(s), let people know that you are always in the market to purchase new self-storage facilities, finally, include links to your social media websites. Your signature can say, “If you know anyone thinking of selling their self-storage facility, have them call me first! I will pay you a finders fee if I buy the property.” You want first shot at facilities that are for sale.

E-mail is an easy way to remind people, especially friends and family, of what you do. Your signature reminds people that you want to buy. You may send out an e-mail to another owner and they see that you are in the market to buy and call you about their own property. Do not miss out on easy referrals because you are not marketing. As always, happy investing.
