​What You Don’t See can Cause you problems

The question always is what’s behind the walls. In this case it’s what’s under the floors. While doing the demo, we discovered that the sanitary lines in the basement had to be replaced. Now this was something that was not a surprise. I was hoping that that would not be the case. Took half a day to demo the concrete floor and another day to take out the bad piping and re-pipe the basement bathroom.

There was #asbestos on the steam lines. I called a contractor in to remove it and all the steam pipes. That took one day to complete. We couldn’t work in the property during that day. Another day lost, because it was not on my schedule. Okay, I thought there may be some, but figured that if so, it could be removed, while we worked upstairs. My guys were so efficient that they had finished all the work upstairs! Since the only rough work they had was in the basement, we had to postpone that work.
