Post #15 - an Unfair Advantage of Leaders Eat[ing] Last [Book Reviews]
Here are my thoughts on two great books I've read this quarter. Enjoy!
Unfair Advantage by Robert Kiyosaki
There are five distinctions that anyone can attain to give them an edge in the world of finance and business. Kiyosaki lays out quite a few nuggets in a Q & A format which I found pretty helpful. He also brings in his advisors for field-specific questions which adds even more value to the reader. This book gets 4 out of 5 stars.
My top takeaways:
- Paying less in taxes is more patriotic because tax breaks are setup to be given when you use money the way the government wants you to (i.e. through real estate to provide housing or in building a business that provides jobs).
- When investing or making any business decision, always look for a way to make an infinite return. There will be a way to get one more often than you think.
Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek
Simon Sinek's "Start With Why" blew me away and will sit on my "Read Every Year" shelf forever (unless I'm reading it). In my view, Sinek's bar was high but I was excitedly surprised. Leaders Eat Last is of the same caliber and expands upon the virtue of leadership and team dynamics. Sinek delivers inspiring studies and stories of combat heroics and workplace acumen. And he does so in such a "fireside chat" manner, it's hard to put the book down even to sleep. Absolutely, 5 stars!
