What are the best walkable areas in Miami?

Nowadays the city life is about live/work/play. Miami has evolved to match this trend. The concept of the city is changing and residents all over the world want to live next to their offices and walk to restaurants, bars and shopping. The different Miami neighborhoods are trying to offer their residents these facilities. Let’s discover together what each neighborhood has to offer.

BAL HARBOUR/SURFSIDE/ BAY HARBOR ISLANDS

This area is well known for the Bal Harbour shops. Most of all the best designers have a boutique there. It’s not only about the shopping experience but also because it’s a little town where you have everything you need, from restaurants to hotels to spas. You can stay at the exclusive St. Regis condo which offers 268 private residences, 183 hotel rooms, 37 condominium hotel suites and 24 fractional residences

BRICKELL

Brickell is considered the Manhattan of the South. Many young people live here thanks to the diverse job opportunities that start-ups and multi million international corporations offer. Since the opening of Mary Brickell and Brickell City Centre, it’s easy to go shopping, drink a coffee or go out clubbing at night. Brickell is a young and dynamic area where you can have it all. You don’t really need a car if you live there. Young people choose to live in condos such as the Icon condo or the Millecento which offer state of the art amenities. They are also oriented towards new preconstruction such as the SLS Brickell or Brickell Heights.

COCONUT GROVE

Coconut Grove is the oldest area in Miami and it is famous for its lush landscaping. It is a hipster village where a lot of residents take their kids to school, have their office and their villas. You can enjoy the greenery but also the beautiful marina. At the Grand Bay condo there are 100 bicycle spaces and pedestrian passageways within the building. Wherever you live in Coconut Grove you can easily walk to the mall at Cocowalk, enjoy French cuisine and go to the movie theatre.

DOWNTOWN

Downtown is the epicenter of Miami. Thanks to the trolley and the Metromover you can reach Brickell in a few minutes. A short drive will take you to South Beach and to the airport. But then why leaving Downtown since you have it all from the American airlines arena to the Bayside mall, the Perez museum of Art and the Adrienne Arsht center for performing arts. From affordable condos such as the 1800 Club or the Quantum to ultra luxury as the One Thousand Museum, you can find your dream condo. The Miami Green project aims at creating a long pedestrian promenade on Biscayne boulevard such as the one in Barcelona’s Las Ramblas.

MIDTOWN

This neighborhood is the new kid on the block but it’s success is phenomenal. Its location is unbeatable since it’s nestled in between the Design District and Wynwood. On the one side ultra luxurious designer shops and on the other side artsy alternative shops and art galleries. Without awesome restaurants such as Sugar Cane and Salumeria 104 you couldn’t call it the best place to live/work and play in Miami.

If you are thinking about moving into this area, I would recommend Hyde Midtown. It has been designed to provide the ambiance of New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.

SOUTH OF FIFTH

South of Fifth is an enclave of South Beach. It’s the quiet and elegant neighborhood of the beach. Many families live here thanks to the boardwalk and the 17 acre south pointe park. This area is also very pet friendly with 2 dog parks. You can find the best high end restaurants in this neighborhood. Joe’s Stone Crab, Smith & Wollensky, Milo’s and Prima 112 just to name a few.Looking for a luxurious condo ? check out the Apogee and the Continuum.
