Like A Boss - Mentality

The right perspective and mentality on anything in life can make a situation appear one way to one person and totally different to another. This holds true for the difference of mentality between a business owner and an employee. An employee mentality has been categorized as someone who clocks in and out of a job between 9AM-5PM physically and mentally. A business owner mentality is looked at as someone who is on the clock 24 hours a day. Neither of the two concepts are fully correct, but most people will benefit greatly by having a business owner mentality. This type of mind shift comes with generating a large amount of self ownership in whatever the job or business is. It is not about clock watching or trying to avoid your boss. It is about owning what you do, taking pride in it and being ambitious enough to assure you seize opportunity. A CEO of a fortune 100 company is not normally the owner of the business but they absolutely retain the mental perspective of a business owner. Shifting your mind away from creating the 'I hate the man' outlook and into, "I am the man" will add a lot of value to your career regardless of if you own your business or not. If you read this and think it sounds a bit arrogant, you are thinking with the employee mentality. If you read this and can relate, you are or are on your way to a business owners mentality.
