Job Security - Be Your Own Boss
There is a backwards thought process in today's society that having a job is more secure than being your own boss. The idea comes from the big corporate world of the 50's and 60's when people would work somewhere for 25 years and retire with a pension. That was a different time and in the current climate, it is rare for someone to choose to work somewhere for so long or not get fired. In my mind, it is scary to think that a boss could walk in one morning and decide today is your last day with the company. That person has control of your life and you can't change that. If you are your own boss, the difficult part is remaining disciplined and accountable to yourself but you have the opportunity to create as much or little security in your life as you choose. You have a much higher impact on the outcome of your own life when reporting to yourself, but you have to learn how to shift your mind away from the way society trains it.
